19th Century New Thought mainly referenced Vedic and Abrahamic Thought. In 19th Century New Thought works, we see references to the Bhagavad Gita and to the Bible. Of course, Annie Rix Militz and certain other New Thought Spiritual leaders also referenced works such as the Tao.
Today certain New Thought "Transdenominations" place Vedic texts in the heart of their teachings and some refer to them as the foundation of their spiritual path. The key difference is that today's Vedic New Thought teachers use more of the Vedas and often teach Yogic Sciences.
Vedic Thought is at least 4000 years old
Vedic Thought placed great value on expanding in the mind (brah-mana) to appreciate infinity (an-anta) and thus enabled practitioners to enfold ideas that came with various invaders.
The oldest portion of the Vedas is the Rig Samhita which are chanting mantras. Some early hymns of the Rig Veda date to 6000 BCE (Before Common Era, formerly known as BC or Before Christ). We know this because certain verses refer to autumn equinox in Orion constellation, long before the rise of cities in the Indus and Saraswati valleys.
The second portion of the Vedas, Sama Samhita, involved singing mantras using melodies. The third portion of the Vedas, Yajur Samhita extending into Brahmana texts, involved chanting mantras during ritual known as yagna. These two portions emerged roughly sometime after 1500 BCE.
Aranyakas, the fourth portion of the Vedas, involve private contemplation on mantras by isolating oneself alone in the forest (aranya) with the aim of extracting their secrets.
Then the Upanishads emerged from discussions on the nature of reality as revealed by the Vedas. This later came to be known as Vedanta. This began around 1000 BCE.
The next phase of the development of Vedic Thought was the development of Puranas which came into being with the rise of monastic orders concurrent with the birth of Buddhism and Jainism in 500 BCE. These stories connect Vedic ideas, to pilgrim spots across the subcontinent of India. Puranic literature includes Ramayana and Mahabharata which introduce us to more defined archetypes such as Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and the Goddesses.
Bhakti kavya or devotional literature, came into being after 1000 CE, making Vedic ideas accessible to regular folks. Ideas formerly restricted to the Brahmin class reached the masses through the poetry of saints and the rise of regional literature and scripts.
All of New Thought operates on the partnership paradigm which has been wonderfully illuminated by Riane Eisler. The existence of Abrahamic New Thought supports the truth that Universal Spiritual Principles are an essential component of the religious thought forms which are encompassed within Abrahamic Thought.

The basic premise of New Thought is that which is Divine is Good and Omnipresent. New Thought is based on Universal Spiritual Principles as demonstrated and taught by historical figures such as Buddha, Danika, Lao Tzu, and Jesus the Christ. It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. The adherents of each spiritual path are collectively responsible to the rest of humanity and all life to insure that the expression of their path is not abusive or violent nor violates the rights of other beings.
As mentioned above, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good.
