New Thought Today
New Thought Millennials make different choices!
New Thought is growing and thriving, but attendance at old New Thought churches is declining?
This is because New Thought millennials are smarter and better informed than their predecessors.
New Thought millennials are more likely to be acquainted with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
and less likely to follow the herd. New Thought Millennials are questioning illusionism and through
doing so are embracing the original
Message of New Thought.
New Thought Millennials are more likely to choose Buddhist New Thought, be
DivineUnity, or choose Mental Science, than to find their path in an existing
New Thought "Transdenomination." Perhaps this is because these paths are
more inclusive and because Mental Science is a spiritual path that is suitable
Mental Scientists emphasize personal development as the vehicle to awaken ones' latent abilities. Although Mental Science emphasizes personal training of mind and body, there is a strong ethical component to this path which emphasizes ongoing improvements within society to insure opportunity for the entire gene pool. In contrast to some adherents of other forms of New Thought Mental Scientists affirm that while each person must develop ones's self because "changing one's thinking, changes ones' life," people are ethically tasked to insure that society's infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water delivery systems etc...
is improved to prevent accidents and the proliferation of water bourne diseases.
Some Mental Scientists refer to Carl Sagan's works such as Science As a Candle in the Dark as reading which clarifies their path, and the recent film Zeitgeist as essential viewing to understand their Weltaunschaung.
"Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, wakens." ~ Carl Jung
Mental Scientist Mental Science emphasis on concrete material changes in the circumstances of life can sometimes cause friction with some old New Thought fundamentalists who feel that life is basically an illusion and that problems should be solved with prayer. The primary difference between contemporary Mental Scientists and adherents to some 20th Century New Thought forms is that Mental Scientists place a strong emphasis on the truth that one's fellow beings are real and
so is global warming. Mental Scientists points to the fact that compassionate action has been proven to be a key factor in evolutionary success.
Mental Scientists dismiss the contention that "everything is an illusion that can be solved with prayer,"
as a stoic stance that does not empower individuals or societies.
DivineUnity shares many of the same beliefs of Mental Scientists embracing
Science and teaching the essential paradigms of Partnership and Co-Creation.
DivineUnity provides a crucible for self transformation and shared action
to create a better world.
New Thought Buddhism is also trending among Millennials.
New Thought Buddhists (New Buddhs, or NooBoos?) share New Thought
practices and at times attend local New Thought Communities to enjoy community and sharing,
but reject illusionism and fuism. This is because "NooBoos" embrace
compassionate wisdom teachings. Something they have in common with Mental Scientists.
NooBoos and Mental Scientists also share an embrace of concrete action which empowers individuals and support the rights of all people to hold whatever beliefs they desire.
DivineUnity, NooBoos, & Mental Scientists place a strong emphasis on Human Rights and the importance of shifting consciousness from the Domination / Submission paradigm that characterizes many cultures to the Partnership paradigm which has been proven to be scientifically superior.
One should not expect Millennials not to be informed about other New Thought paths or religion in general. Often they study religion with the goal of deeper insight into the respective adherents of different paths.
There are many wonderful New Thought organizations with diverse root texts and a variety of approaches to those texts and distinct methods of teaching.

While we are aware that the majority of people who choose the New Thought Path do not find a New Thought Community that suits their sensibilities, we encourage you to visit the different centers.
The basic premise of New Thought is that which is Divine is Good and Omnipresent. New Thought is based on Universal Spiritual Principles as demonstrated and taught by historical figures such as Buddha, Danika, Lao Tzu, and Jesus the Christ. It is understood there are many "Wayshowers." The strength of the teaching of a particular Wayshower is demonstrated through the consciousness and actions of the followers of that path. The adherents of each spiritual path are collectively responsible to the rest of humanity and all life to insure that the expression of their path is not abusive or violent nor violates the rights of other beings.
As mentioned above, New Thought is inclusive and draws on the wisdom of all traditions that teach the truth of our Unity with God/Good and the omnipresence of God/Good.
